Lack of an Internet Connection!!!!! Maple Ridge and Chilliwack

I have had a few connection problems around this area. Some do not have any connection at all and only when I have been back in the greater Vancouver area have I had access.
I have visited a few places since my last blog. I had a very interesting day at The Maple Ridge Parole office being guided by Scot Gibson. We had a long and frank discussion about the difficulties placing ex offenders into the community. Scot took me to the Maple Ridge Treatment Centre which is a health authority run treatment centre focussing on the main issues that lead people to addictions rather than directly at the addiction. This was a fantastic place with a very driven team of staff doing outstanding work in a community stting. Again it is part of the community within which it resides and it was interesting to see how they promote their work which gains community support and lessons the "Not in our back yard" effect.
We also had a look at the Salvation Army Hostel in Maple Ridge who again are doing wonderful work with those who have fallen on hard times their "We turn no one away" approach is very commendable. Again we had a discussion around the needs of those turning up at the door and how these are addressed.
We moved on to look at a Halfway House in Chilliwack. This facility was also very involved in its community and this dispelled a lot of the myths of those placed their.
All in all this was a great day which was very helpfully put together by Scot Gibson and I pay my thanks to him for that.
