Research
Well the reality of the task is finally starting to sink in. The name of the game is Research and I am now finding that what I thought I knew, I knew not :-). Well I suppose for me to get the very best experience from this wonderful opportunity it means I need to spend some time getting it right. I have looked at quite a lot of information about Finland and Canada and at least they seem to be the two best places to look however I had been looking from the Prison perspective and now realise it may be easier to look back from the outside in first. At least then I can understand the process that has led an Offender to the point of release rather than follow him / her through that process. I think that the open prisons in Helsinki hold a key to my quest and it also looks like I may be spending a lot of time in the Frazer Valley / Victoria areas of Canada. I will update this again once I have some specifics. I have however made contact with Finland and that promises to be the first leg of my journey probably in May or early June.
